Gout

Gout, it is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait that causes inborn error in purine metabolism, the result of which a spectrum of disorders arises from overproduction / reduced excretion of uric acid / combination both. The joint inflammation is caused by deposits of uric acid crystals in the joint fluid(synovial fluid) and joint lining (synovial lining). Intense joint inflammation occurs when the white blood cells engulf the uric acid crystals, causing pain, heat and redness of the joint The increased serum uric acid [more then 6mg/dl] get deposited as urate in joints typically starting from that of big toe, characterized by swelling & tenderness. Occasionally first attack occurs in different joint.

The disease condition with similar clinical manifestation is Vata rakta in Ayurvedic classics. Other disease conditions with similar pathogenesis on ayurveda lines , under Vata rakta can be psoriatic arthritis, infective arthritis, arthritis associated with inflammatory bowl disease & ulcerative colitis.

Vatarakta can be controlled, contained & involved pathogenesis can be reversed; Dr. Prasher studied some herbs useful at different stage of the diseases & keeping in view the basic constitution of the diseased based on authentic approach described in Charaka Samhita. The herbal extracts are mixed for each patient based on his nature after complete analysis.
