Osteo-arthritis Osteo-arthritis, degenerative joint disease of old age characterized by progressive deterioration & loss of articular cartilage associated with osteophytes formation in & around involved joint.
Pain & stiffness in morning &after prolonged rest for a brief period, and get increased with walking & weather changes. Spine involvement may affect intervertebral discs. OA due to trauma, systemic or congenital disorders may appear at early age. In radiographic findings –joint space narrowed osteophytes, joint surface erosions, subchondral cysts or subchondral bone sclerosis. The disease condition with similar clinical manifestation is Sandhivata in Ayurvedic classics. Osteo-arthritis can be controlled, contained & involved pathogenesis can be reversed; Dr. Prasher studied some herbs useful at different stage of the diseases & keeping in view the basic constitution of the diseased based on authentic approach described in Charaka Samhita. The herbal extracts are mixed for each patient based on his nature after complete analysis. |
